Ohio State Not Classy

Two weeks ago Northwestern hosted the Ohio State Buckeyes. The past 3 years Ohio State had won by a margin of 128-40. The turnout for this game was looking to be the same considering Northwestern starting quarterback, leading tackler, 1st and 2nd string running backs were injured. But Northwestern came out strong and the score was only 21-10 in the Buckeyes favor at half time. The hung on and didn't let the score get too far away from them and it was 31-10 with 7 minutes left in the 4th quarter. The game was virtually over and Northwestern put in a lot of their second and third string players to get them some playing time.
Ohio State had the ball 4th and 15 and was getting ready to punt. But instead of punting they did a fake and picked up the first down and on the next play threw a long pass for a touchdown. If you know anything about football this is a very unclassy move and some of the NU fans were getting a little rowdy.
The score was now 38-10 and the game was for sure over now but once again Ohio State decided to be jerks and with 6 seconds left in the game they scored another touchdown. This was like a big unnecessary kick in the genital region. Ohio State is a very unclassy team and they should receive some sort of sanction from the Big ten for this type of behavior.

Cats Season Back On Track

The Northwestern Wildcats took quite a hit when their starting running back and quarterback were injured 3 weeks ago, but since then the Cats buckled down, made adjustments, and are right back on track with their season.

After losing to Indiana, the Wildcats went on to play the #24 ranked Minnesota. Even diehard NU fans like myself were a little nervous on how the game would play out with back-up quarterback Mike Kafka taking the snaps. But the nation was in for a surprise. Kafka ran the ball 23 times and gained 217 yards, a alltime record for any Big Ten quarterback ever! The Cats also won the game 28-21 on a last second interception by Brendan Smith. It was a huge win for the Wildcats and got them back on track.

The week following the Minnesota game the Wildcats played Ohio State. Most of the NU players were quite worn out and the suffered a loss. But the team put the loss behind them and packed their bags and headed out to Ann Arbor, Michigan. The Cats pummeled the Wolverines and handed them another loss in their already terrible 3-8 season. The Cats now look ahead to their last regular season game this weekend against their rivals, the Illini. Hopefully the Cats will win this game and get into a good bowl game.

Season Of Ups and Downs

Its been awhile since I have last updated how Northwestern was doing with their season. Since my last post quite a lot has happened to the Cats.

Following their loss to Michigan State the Wildcats hosted the Purdue Boilermakers and were anxious to erase the loss the previous year. The Cats had a great game a won 48-26.

Northwestern then traveled to Bloomington, Indiana to take on the Hoosiers, a game everyone thought the Cats would easily win. The team came out flat and Indiana took an early lead and the Cats never recovered and lost the game 19-21. It was a tough loss but even worse both starting quarterback CJ Bacher and runningback Tyrell Sutton were injured during the course of the game. Tyrell hurt his wrist and had to have surgery, and will be out for the rest of the season. CJ strained his calf and is not expected to play for the next two weeks, and will be replaced by Mike Kafka.
